Grand National Chauffeur Service

Professional chauffeur service for the Grand National — the world’s most famous horse race, run each April at Aintree Racecourse near Liverpool. Expert long-distance transfers from addresses across Berkshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire and London.

The Grand National takes place each April over three days at Aintree Racecourse, approximately 200 miles north of London. The National itself — run on Saturday over four miles and 514 yards, with 30 of the most iconic fences in sport — is one of the genuine set-pieces of the British sporting year, drawing a television audience of over 600 million worldwide and a raceday crowd of around 70,000.

Aintree is a long journey from the Thames Valley — typically three to three and a half hours by road via the M6. For many clients, particularly those attending Ladies Day on Friday or the National itself on Saturday, the journey is best treated as part of the experience: comfortable, relaxed and door-to-door, with no parking costs, no motorway driving after a long day and no coordination required at the other end.

The three days of the Grand National meeting have distinct characters. Thursday is the opening day with a strong racing card. Friday is Ladies Day — one of the most attended race meetings in Britain, with a vibrant atmosphere and strong fashion element. Saturday is National day, when Aintree becomes the centre of the sporting world for approximately ten minutes as the field jumps Becher’s Brook, The Chair and the Canal Turn on the way to the most dramatic finish in racing.

We provide full-day hire for the Grand National meeting including the return journey home. Given the distance involved, many clients prefer to travel on the day rather than the evening before — we will advise on realistic departure times based on your preferred arrival time and current traffic information.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the journey from Berkshire to Aintree?

Aintree is approximately 200 miles from Windsor and Ascot — typically three to three and a half hours by chauffeured car via the M6. We recommend departing early to allow for motorway traffic, particularly on Saturday when Grand National day traffic on the approaches to Liverpool can be significant.

Which day of the Grand National meeting is best to attend?

Saturday is National day — the main event and the most atmospheric of the three days. Friday’s Ladies Day has an excellent racing card and a vibrant social atmosphere. Thursday is the quietest and least crowded of the three days. We can advise based on your priorities.

Do you provide the return journey to Berkshire after racing?

Yes. Full-day hire includes the return journey home after racing finishes. Given the distance, many clients find the return journey a pleasant way to decompress after the day — comfortable, unhurried and door to door.

Can you arrange an overnight stay rather than returning the same day?

We can provide the outward transfer on Saturday morning and a separate return transfer on Sunday if you prefer to stay in Liverpool overnight. Please mention this when booking so we can arrange both legs together.

How early should I book a Grand National transfer?

As early as possible. The Grand National is one of our most popular long-distance bookings and availability for the Saturday in particular is limited. We recommend booking as soon as your race tickets are confirmed.
