Built in 1666 by the 2nd Duke of Buckingham as a gift to his mistress the Italian mansion Cliveden House has remained a pinnacle of intrigue and glamour. In its past has been home to an earl, three countesses, two dukes, a Prince of Wales and the Viscounts of Astor. More recently Cliveden was used by Meghan Markle and her mother Doria Ragland the night before the Royal Wedding.

Location

Cliveden House is in the village of Taplow, Buckinghamshire and can be reached by road, boat, and is just 25 minutes away from Heathrow airport and an hour from London.

Cliveden has become one of the National Trust’s most popular pay-for-entry visitor attractions hosting almost 460,000 visitors in 2016.
